Anna started the Smart Empowerment initiative as a community-based project that provides employment opportunities for vulnerable women. Not only do we source staff from certain communities, but also for all the different LogiSmart Branches, on the same principles of empowerment, upskilling and job-satisfaction.
The projects are located in areas where these women don’t need to travel and work within their communities. SEI find work projects for these ladies, and the ladies on these projects have gone onto making a positive impact within their communities. They have fundraisers, make vegetable gardens for food for creches, have soup kitchens, all in an attempt to assist and skill other vulnerable women and prepare them for the workspace. The SEI will take them in and give them a contract work, do skills training with them, assist in health programs & counselling and help them set up a professional CV. This is to upskill them, while earning wages, to prepare them for the next phase of our Project, which is assisting them in getting them ready to go out on their own and to better jobs. The whole process regularly rotates as one lady is prepared to “fly” we can help more women who then replace her on the Project.
